Counting votes

Below the fold are screenshots of elections graphs by various news sites or blogs. It's surprising how fancy doesn't mean easy to read and the absolute best counter is surprising low tech. Abc News:

Very fancy and colorful, informative once you mouse over the states, but a tad overwhelming.

The BBC:

Kinda blah, but the finishing line at least lets you easily see how the parties are doing.

CBS News:

Jesus, that's boring looking. You have to click to get taken to another age to see individual states.

CNN:

The bar graphs are useful and direct, but too much info for an at glance tally of ow things are going.

Fox:

Bless their heart, always so drama filled. But a little confusing as the user has to look in two separate places for the info and then do the math, so to speak, to see how the race is going.

MSNBC:

Very cool and high tech looking, but the speedometer graphics are silly

Daily Kos:

Low tech and lousy with small type thats hard to read.

And the winner, The Drudge Report:

Straightforward and cutting the heart of the election and understandable at a glance. The more complex maps are fine for picking out details, and they offer more meat once you dig into them, but the overall picture is nicely summed up by Drudge.
